Kinetic Rain – Changi Airport Singapore

At Changi Singapore Airport departure-check-in hall of Terminal 1, sits a beautiful piece of moving art. During refurbishment at the airport, ART+COM was commissioned to create a signature installation. The result of this is Kinetic Rain.
“The sculpture aims to be a source of identity for its location, and provides a moment for passengers to contemplate and reflect despite the busy travelling atmosphere.”
Composed of 2 parts, each consists of 608 rain droplets made of lightweight aluminium covered with copper. Dangling from thin, almost invisible steel wires above the 2 opposing escalators creates a sense of organised chaos.
