Money Clothing was established in 2003 and ever since has been a firm favourite for apparel and accessories worldwide. Now renowned globally for sewing real money into their jeans, they are storming the scene with modern streetwear. Their range, available here, is a sleek take on classic styling silhouettes, such as the bomber, crew neck and baseball caps, as is the old saying, classic with a modern twist. The styling is loud and unapologetic but very clever and nuanced.
Visiting their Ladbroke Grove studio, I worked along side the design team to create (even if I do say so myself) some awesome accessories. On the bags it was back packs, neck bags, cross bodies and more, plus other great looking items such as socks and beanies.
A truly unconventional head office and a load of fun to design and … Read More »
Featured at London Fashion Week, the Bobby Abley Fall catwalk range was widely received as contemporary, cutting edge and full of his witty humour. Based at his London studio in North Kensington where he is part of the NEWGEN platform, he turns his style visions into style icons. For a couple of years the couture designer has collaborated with Disney, last season the Teletubbies were his inspiration (thanks for the giant Po, my boy loves it!), this Fall 18 is looney tunes.
Lucky enough to work with the designer himself at his London base, I spent some time on accessories with Bobby. Caps, gloves, totes, backpacks and other items were a key part in delivering Mr Abley’s range. A real pleasure to work alongside and see his creative process in person.
Check out his collection and available items here.
Working with the same premium leather supplier as on the mens AW17/18, we designed and developed an awesome ladies footwear and accessories range. We used the same design details in the bags and shoes and made the most of the luxurious leathers. In this post we will take a closer look at some of our favourites.
The Chelsea boot is still going strong, a staple in every fashion orientated young ladies wardrobe. This boot has a lightly grained toe cap and waxed suede counter and vamp, the heel unit is made of stacked leather and the welt is not functional but certainly looks great. The bag has a waxed cotton body and the same light grained leather with raw edges as used on the boot. Tying together the materials to show the diversity of the leather and how beautiful it … Read More »
Working with a premium leather supplier we produced a stunning set of mens and ladies footwear and accessories. Here I feature some of my favourites from the mens range. Raw edges to show off the premium leathers, floating brogue punching as a nod to the classic with a modern twist and pin stud fastening hardware are seen through out.
This supplier owns a tannery that works hand in hand with the footwear factory and the accessories factory, ensuring the best, high quality on trend leather grains and colours are incorporated into the development season upon season.
The stacked leather outsole group is inspired by todays British gentry. Suede contrasted with pebbled leathers and waxed canvas, hiker laces and zig zag edges are seen in abundance. Khaki against chocolate, Navy on tan are classic British styling colours.
My favourite bag from … Read More »
Following on from a successful AW season, we designed, developed and produced several styles in the F&F kids Accessories Spring Summer 2017 season. Liaising with the buying team at the head office and China supplier with the hub, we took from buy brief to finished product 2 pack caps, straw trilby, bags, 2 pack bucket hats and more.
The 2 pack caps feature one cap in a red twill with in house designed Authentic Apparel slogan contrast satin stitched in navy and white, with streetwear screen printed behind. Keeping on trend the next slogan cap is all chambray with 3D satin stitched Brooklyn in white, with flat satin stitching below. Our straw trilby for girls has been well received. The bright over sized flowers really stand out in bright warm colours. Within the basket weave is a silver phleck interwoven with … Read More »
Working closely with the buyer, design department and a supplier in China, we designed from brief, developed and mass produced several styles in the kids Spring Summer 2017 range, selling in a TU store or online. A large selection of our items will feature through out the season, launching in different phases in the year.
Several baseball and flat peak caps were selected, the khaki splatter cap in particular is one of my favourites. Screen printed splatter print in three colour onto a khaki textile base with a woven label detailing on the front panel and adjustable rear clip. Great look and quality at a great price.
We also created a sports cap in quick dry materials, with mesh panels to help the head cool and let air in and out. As well as a cool mono camo print with a … Read More »
Pantone select a colour every year since 2000 which influences trends across many industries, from fashion to travel. This year that colour is greenery, 15-0343TPG. It reflects new beginnings, a general trend towards healthier, greener solutions to diet, social life and environmental issues. A positive and feel good colour.
Browse the site for ready made colour palettes at Pantone. Great tool for looking at whats on trend now and helping to predict the following colour trends. This light green shade is an easy move on from the autumnal transitional khakis and greener browns that have so dominated fashion the past year or two.
Using the Greenery colour all over really gives a fresh feel to the colour block trend going on in footwear and accessories right now. Adding a tan highlight for spring summer and brown or black for autumn winter keep … Read More »
For the Autumn Winter 2016 season I worked closely with the buyer and a supplier based in China. We designed, developed and produced several styles in the F&F range. Producing sets of 2 pack beanies, 3 pack gloves, sets of mitts, trilbies and more, across older and younger, boys and girls.
The beanies feature a plain style and a patterned style in the 2 pack, on the boys it was mixed irregular stripes and colour blocking with twisted yarns. The younger girls styles had polka dots, stripes and colour blocking with grey marl. They were all touch scree, super soft and magic stretch. Quality value for money items. Was great fun working on these styles. Have a look at the range available in store and online. The monster beanie is my favourite.
For Autumn Winter 16/17 I designed and developed a footwear and accessories range to be sold across the UK by a premium Indian leather supplier. One of the boots from this line was a high cut boot in a heavy grain leather with a washed leather outsole, a real stunner in quality materials. This style was bought and developed by Frank Wright for the AW16/17 footwear range. Featured in blogs such as Man for Himself, sold instore and online sites such as ASOS.
The collar is in a contrast leather with a smoother grain. The shoe has a modern style of broguing, traditional brogue punching has an inside and outside stitch line, for this range I wanted the broguing to be slightly different – we removed the unnecessary stitching for a cleaner finish. A great reason for doing this is we … Read More »
For the AW1617 season I worked with an India supplier to design and develop a range of footwear and accessories. Part of this was used in the L&S London limited edition leather range and others in the main range. Retailing at selected suppliers and made in premium leathers this was a real pleasure to work on. The range features small accessories such as ear phone holders, key ring covers and wash bags.
And leather backpacks, holdalls and messenger bags, seasack was my favourite. The L&S London line sold in select stores and available on the home Lyle and Scott page, plus ASOS and other online shopping sites.
That range was diffused into part leather and textile options in black and khaki sold in main range in larger volume.
This accessories line was a huge success for me and was a big part … Read More »
