2013 Colour trend – Colour of the year

If you followed my blogs or the Pantone Colour Team’s, you will know that Tangerine Tango was the colour of 2012. Adorned by great styles, including Gourmet’s Tredici hybrid sneaker hiker and Supra’s Skytop in there Camo pack (read the blog here). This year Pantone have predicted Emerald 17-5641 to be the must have colour in any range! Described as “Lively. Radiant. Lush… A colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well being, balance and harmony”. Be sure to take a look at the post at Pantone, it’s well worth a read. From textiles to footwear to ceramics, expect to see it through AW13 and SS13. A refreshing colour in the collar lining or an eye catching lace pop, it certainly is an easy shade of green to work with. Useful for kids footwear as well as any unisex style.

Whether your’e putting Emerald with a contrasting grape purple or slightly off setting it with a moss green, maybe complimenting it with neon yellow, emerald is a must have for every designers palette, especially during SS13. In soft suede or patent leather, in a solid block outsole colour or woven label and other trim details, you can see why this shade of…greeny blue has been selected. A really diverse colour that has been making its way to the fore front of commercial fashion for at least a season or 2 now.

The pantone colour inherently lends itself to a sporty look in my opinion. However if used appropriately it can no doubt be applied to any type of style. Vagabond featured this soft looking slip on at Bread and Butter Spring Summer 2013, the all over 1 colour shoe is still easy on the eye, even if a little bright, making the most of the very simple and understated upper. The stud a stud at the back dotted on as if it was the dot of the shoes exclamation mark. To all you designers out there, make the most of this versatile and hard working…yet relaxing shade… Emerald!

A Little taster from one of my blogs!

Simple tutorial on how to make a baby padder, all leather, hand stitched, raw edge and unlined. On this post I am going to show from start to finish, how to make your own baby shoes, bear in mind, you will need some tools and the pattern is cut from leather and there is no glue. Start with suede as it is more flexible and easier to work with than other treated leathers. It is still good quality suede, soft touch on the skin, inside and out of the shoe...
