F&F Kids Accessories Spring Summer 2017

29th April

Following on from a successful AW season, we designed, developed and produced several styles in the F&F kids Accessories Spring Summer 2017 season. Liaising with the buying team at the head office and China supplier with the hub, we took from buy brief to finished product 2 pack caps, straw trilby, bags, 2 pack bucket hats and more.

The 2 pack caps feature one cap in a red twill with in house designed Authentic Apparel slogan contrast satin stitched in navy and white, with streetwear screen printed behind. Keeping on trend the next slogan cap is all chambray with 3D satin stitched Brooklyn in white, with flat satin stitching below. Our straw trilby for girls has been well received. The bright over sized flowers really stand out in bright warm colours. Within the basket weave is a silver phleck interwoven with … Read More »

Pantone colour of 2017 – Greenery 15-0343 TPG

5th January

Pantone select a colour every year since 2000 which influences trends across many industries, from fashion to travel. This year that colour is greenery, 15-0343TPG. It reflects new beginnings, a general trend towards healthier, greener solutions to diet, social life and environmental issues. A positive and feel good colour.

Browse the site for ready made colour palettes at Pantone. Great tool for looking at whats on trend now and helping to predict the following colour trends. This light green shade is an easy move on from the autumnal transitional khakis and  greener browns that have so dominated fashion the past year or two.

Using the Greenery colour all over really gives a fresh feel to the colour block trend going on in footwear and accessories right now. Adding a tan highlight for spring summer and brown or black for autumn winter keep … Read More »

Lyle and Scott

26th October

For the AW1617 season I worked with an India supplier to design and develop a range of footwear and accessories. Part of this was used in the L&S London limited edition leather range and others in the main range. Retailing at selected suppliers and made in premium leathers this was a real pleasure to work on. The range features small accessories such as ear phone holders, key ring covers and wash bags.

This accessories line was a huge success for me and was a big part of the Lyle and Scott range for that season. A pleasure and privilege for me to work on – the product speaks for itself. Check it out AW16 and enjoy.

F&F Active SS16 Footwear and Accessories

28th March

F&F Active now commands its fair share of the sports wear market and to celebrate its success they have signed Davina McCall to be the new face of the Spring Summer 2016 line. With renewed focus this seasons range has been well publicised and well received online and instore.

Collaborating with the Active Sports team we designed a fantastic new range of footwear and accessories. The Active reflective trainer was featured in the lookbook, SS16 launch video and blogged about. One of the best sellers in black, the grey version had a 3M reflective panel work as well as 3M woven trough the webbing, a functional and aesthetically pleasing jogger.

Riding the current sports trends of laser cutting, bold brights and tonals, the colour block Active trainer  has a synthetic lightweight upper and super … Read More »

An Original Penguin AW15/16

28th September

Continuing the success from the previous Spring Summer season we designed and developed the styles hand in hand with the footwear head office. This season has an outdoors theme, getting back to nature, making the most of the Autumnal colours. Working from the brief we created a trendy, stylish and quality range of shoes for Autumn Winter 15/16.

Well received by the bloggers and the customers it was an awesome range to have input on. Creasy, a long wingtip boot featured heavily in the range, supple grained leather with zig zag edges, burnished and brogued on the toe with a crepe outsole. Described on the website as “of the utmost quality as you would expect with anything that bears the Original Penguin name”

The crepe outsole really made this group stand out, on trend and gives a real premium look alongside the … Read More »

Japan – Konichiwa Shibuya! 2013 Research Trip

17th February

If you would like to purchase this 2013 colour and materials package, any other package or wish to discuss commissioning a specific package, please feel free to contact me.

For several years I have wanted to go to Japan, it is a fantastic hub for fashion in clothing and footwear. I wanted to experience the culture, what makes this place breed such unique designers? Home to many iconic and amazing, forward thinking brands  such as catwalk Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Misake, Junya Watanabe and on the street level, A Bathing Ape, Asics/Onitsuka and Cause… This is but a mere snip’it of the fashion capital that Tokyo has become.  I was very fortunate and able to travel there this year for a research trip. First thing I noticed was that colour is everywhere and not such a seasonal thing for the majority of … Read More »

2013 Forecasting Trend – The Modern Preppy Nerd…

29th January

For those of us that have seen Quadrophenia, those of us that have seen Pharell go from Nerd to Icecream, there is a level of understanding for the current “look”. It’s Bradley Wiggins dressed by Mark Powell at Sports personality of the year, its classic Ray Bans with a slick back side parting and top button fastened on a check collared shirt with a little polo player or rams head sitting on the right breast. Or alternatively, to try this trend in small doses put on some geeky glasses, suspenders and argyle socks. It is quite simply the look of now, the modern prep nerd. This could easily be 3 separate posts, but to wrap it up nicely iv’e summed it up in 1.

Amazing that although we are in the 21st century and we are as far advanced as we … Read More »

The Cuba Project – 2013 colour & materials forecast

30th December

If you would like to purchase this 2013 colour and materials package, any other package or wish to discuss commissioning a specific package, please feel free to contact me.

In mid 2012 I travelled to the carribean island of Cuba to gain inspiration on colour and material forecasting for 2013. Why Cuba you say? Why not? Right now this island is going through a huge transition from a dedicated Communist state to a slightly more open Communist state (sort of like China…kind of…). If you go now you can see what Cuba is like before it is really opened up to the rest of the world, in it’s raw state. Which leads me onto the main reason for my visit. The US trade embargo was put on Cuba in 1960. Up until this point it had benefited from huge investment from … Read More »

Colour trend forecast for SS12

14th February

Predicted by the Pantone Colour Team, the colour for 2012 is… Tangerine Tango! Ok, so I am not to mad on the colour as it stands on a TCX square (17-1463TCX)… but none the less, it is a bright, eye catching colour that feels warm and welcoming. Rich as a base and striking as a highlight, it will intrigue and challenge designers alike. For the slightly more feint of heart, expect to see small pops in the upper with the main burst hidden out of sight when worn and standing, ie, bright satin tangerine linings and steps in the heels of formal footwear bursting with a sheet of orange… I mean tangerine… And for those that embrace the colour of the year, we can expect bold, covered in colour units, complimenting the leather of a mens shoe welt.

A Little taster from one of my blogs!

Simple tutorial on how to make a baby padder, all leather, hand stitched, raw edge and unlined. On this post I am going to show from start to finish, how to make your own baby shoes, bear in mind, you will need some tools and the pattern is cut from leather and there is no glue. Start with suede as it is more flexible and easier to work with than other treated leathers. It is still good quality suede, soft touch on the skin, inside and out of the shoe...
