Junya Watanabe x Trickers… Tastey

Every mens heritage brand has got a Tricker, when I say Tricker I of course mean a classic Brogue / Derby / 3 eye Gibson / Oxford / Etc…. with a modern refreshing tweak. As you may have guessed I am calling it a Tricker as a derivitive of the hand made footwear brand Tricker’s. This resurgance in classic English heritage footwear has been (in my opinion) displayed excellently in their collaboration with Junya Watanabe, in particular this navy Wingtip beauty. Showing everyone else how the original should be moved on. White flat laces and highly polished navy leather starkly contrasted by the white sports outsole. Maintaining the classic brogue punching and neat gentlemans silhouette with a bold red lining for that extra detail. Dabbling in Ath’leisure but still heavily planted with its Trickers roots, the balance is perfect for casual and smart…not to smart of course!

Good for AW aswell as SS. You will have seen this theme from last season and will keep seeing it past SS13. Personally I love this exciting time of footwear, classics with a modern twist and all it entails, looking back at footwear, taking the best of the past – quality, well thought materials with genuine craftsmanship and in some ways moving away from modern consumerism – fast fashion, throw away culture. I know this colab has been well publlicised and for the footwear community this is not “brand new”, but some things are just worth writing about.

Credit to Trickers as well as Junya Watanabe, a forward thinking company that isnt shy to at least approach the fringe elements of fashion. Another Trickers colaboration of note is their teaming up with the brand Norse Projects, another great job under their belt. Be sure to check out the range, take a look at the Trickers of now and old to appreciate just how funky fresh these shoes are.

On a side note, heres a blog from The Tailored Last about the Cole Haan Lunargrind.

Start with suede as it is more flexible and easier to work with than other treated leathers. It is still good quality suede, soft touch on the skin, inside and out of the shoe...
